Awake Asleep

German artist, Thomas Bachler and Marian Drew produced double exposures by posting films from Germany to Australia for a 12 month period in 2003. Distance separated the moments of exposure. Two witnesses form two vanishing points that bring a global perspective. Films exposed in each country as part of everyday life were posted undeveloped, and re-exposed, resulting in chance meetings on film.  Australia to Germany ’Awake Asleep – Double Exposures’ plays with that which is diametrically distanced; day and night, winter and summer, reality and dream, subjective and objective, culture and nature.
